Jagadamba Temple, Saptashringi

This is another well-visited temple of Goddess Durga in Maharashtra.

Legend is associated with the Goddess Durga killing the demon Mahishasura and his aids called Shumba-Nisumba. It is believed, after killing the demons, Devi Jagadamba took rest and mediated at this place.

The word Jagadamba means mother of the universe. It is believed Goddess bless the humanity in all three principal forms that is Mahakali, Maha Saraswati and Maha Lakshmi.

The temple is on Sahyadri hills surrounded by six other hills all around. Thus she became Saptshringi- that is Goddess of seven hills.

Temple is about 65 kilometers from Nasik in Maharashtra located at a place called Vani.
