A well-known Narasimha temple of the region.
Legend is that, years ago, Sri Dharmavarma- the ruler of the area, did severe penance to Lord Vishnu; when Lord Vishnu appeared to him, he requested him to show the ‘’soumya’’ ((pacific) form of his Narasimha incarnation.
Lord Vishnu agreed. Took the form of Yoga (meditating form) Narasimha as against the Ugra (ferrocious) form of Narasimha, usually associated with the Narasimha incarnation.
The temple also has a shrine to Lord Brahma- a rarity by itself. Besides, there are images of Balarama and Muralikrishna. The temple is on the banks of river Godavari.
Dharmapuri is 70 kilometers from Karimnagar.
