A famous abode of Lord Muruga in Tamilnadu.

Legend is that Sri Arunagirinathar, the famous author of Tirupukal, got inspiration to write the kriti by praying to Lord Muruga here. He praised this Lord by 18 verses in Tirupukal.

The Muruga Shrine is behind the Shiva shrine. The temple tank ‘Shakti theertham’ is believed to be made by Lord Muruga himself using his Vel (Spear).

Lord Muruga is worshipped along with his wives Valli and Devasena.

The temple is about nine kilometers west of Tiruchirapalli.
